Outdoor boot camps have started with a lot of mud, sweat and cheers!

8:45 AM Mom's Camp at Atwater Park and Beach
I am so proud of our campers, as they didn't let rain, cold, or mud get in their way. Mountain climbers are much more fun in the mud!

5:30 AM Camp at Bradford Beach
We know that April showers bring May flowers and hopefully warmer temperatures. It may not be warm outside, but you can heat things up inside. Check out my blog for nine foods that you can serve up as aphrodisiacs.

Salad Saboteurs
Believe it or not, some salads can have double the calories of the burger. Just because you put something on a bed of lettuce, doesn't make it healthier. Take a look at these salad saboteurs and their healthier alternatives.
Whole Nuts
Nuts give your salad a delicious crunch, but can be extremely high in fat and calories.
Chopped Nuts
Since nuts are heart-healthy, the smart way to use them is to choose slivered or chopped. Opt for lower-calorie varieties, such as almonds, cashews, and walnuts.

When Munchkins Get The Munchies
When I was growing up, a common refrain was "no snacking between meals" or "you'll spoil your dinner."
Today, nutritionists are saying just the opposite is true. For kids and adults, it's recommended that we all eat five or six smaller meals spaced out over the day instead of the three traditional pig-outs.
This is especially true for children, who, if they haven't already succumbed to obesity, have much smaller stomachs than adults. And their fast-burning little metabolisms will make quick use of what does fit in their stomachs at lunch, which means they're going to have to refuel before suppertime rolls around. So bring on the healthy snacks.
The two most important things to consider regarding snacks for kids (and for us adults, for that matter) are variety and portion size. A good rule of thumb is to try and incorporate two different food groups into any snack and to keep the portion size between 100 and 200 calories.

Promoting Healthier Body Image
Body image is defined as the mental representation of your physical self at any given point in time. Body image refers to how you see yourself, how you feel others perceive you, and what you believe about your physical appearance. It is influenced more by self-esteem than by how physically attractive you are to others. It is how YOU feel about and in your body.
